Month of the Military Child

wear blue and our nation’s military is stronger, more dynamic because of incredible military children like eleven-year-old Alexandra Stearns. We are proud to celebrate her service to our country, as well her important contributions to the wear blue community:

When I first moved to Virginia, I didn’t have any friends because school hasn’t started yet. Then, one Saturday, my parents took me to a wear blue: run to remember run. I met a lot of new friends that were also military kids and liked to run,  just like me.

Everybody was so welcoming and made our family fit right in. I love to help setting up the wear blue flags and I also like to help with the wear blue Mile. At our chapter, everyone is ALWAYS welcomed. Running with wear blue is a great way to honor the service and sacrifice of the American military. My daddy is in the Army and he has lost friends in the wars. When he goes to run, he runs for them so they are never forgotten. I run for them, too.

About a year ago, I volunteered for the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC. I had the honor of holding a flag for a fallen soldier. A few months later, when my family and I were visiting an army museum in Fort Eustis, I recognized the name of that same soldier on one of the displays! It was a great feeling because I realized that with wear blue, we really are remembering and honoring our fallen heroes.

I love being a part of this amazing community and meeting new people.
